Putting Of Mice and Men in the news!
Although radios had been slowing becoming part of the American families’ entertainment, and newsreels proceeded most movies, the newspaper was the backbone of the 1930’s information highway. Citizens would learn about international calamities, national drama, local issues, as well as, the opinion of citizens and critics alike.

We have followed, throughout the reading of the novel, Of Mice and Men, the impact the Great Depression had on the lives of all Americans. The aspects of the stock market crash of 1929, the droughts of the plains states and the lack of employments all impacted the nation and her citizens. We have also related these national issues to the plight of the characters and the situations they find themselves in. As a way of closing the unit, you will be developing the front page of a newspaper focusing on both national news of the 1930’s and the fictional events of the novel.
